A bundled price is a single all-inclusive fee for a defined episode of care — surgeon, anesthesia, facility, implants, and typical follow-up rolled into one number. Instead of the patient getting four separate bills (facility, surgeon, anesthesia, pathology), the facility quotes one price upfront and everyone in the room gets paid out of it. A hernia repair with mesh runs about $3,800. Surgery Center of Oklahoma and Northwest Surgery Center in Dallas run the same model. The number you see is the number you pay, and any complication within a defined window is included. Compare that to a traditional hospital knee arthroscopy where the surgeon bills separately, the facility bills separately, the anesthesiologist bills separately, and pathology bills separately — often adding up to $18,000 to $25,000 with no way to know the total until the bills arrive weeks later.
